When you file for Social Security, you file an application with the government, and they do an initial determination. And if they deny you that, then you file a request for reconsideration. If they deny you again on reconsideration, then you request a hearing before an administrative law judge. At that point, your case is transferred from the state of Oklahoma to the federal government, and the case is then transferred to the ODAR office. If you’re here in Tulsa, it would be up here and it would be assigned to an administrative law judge, and you then would just wait until there is time for a hearing. It can be a year, year and a half. We don’t have an easy answer for people. For more information or if you have any questions, just go to our website at TroutmanLaw.com.
