How Much Does A Disability Attorney Cost?
Tulsa SSDI Lawyer Explains Contingency FeesMany people with disabilities have a limited capacity for work, and we understand that the thought of hiring an attorney can be daunting. However, you should know that the costs associated with disability lawyers are very low, and in fact, you do not have to pay anything upfront. In this video, Tulsa SSDI lawyer Steve Troutman explains the low costs of hiring a disability attorney and the concept of contingency fees. Not only does our law firm offer free evaluations of your case and operate on contingency fees, but disability law limits how much you will owe if your case is successful. Disability applicants will only owe attorney fees equal to $6,000 or 25 percent of their back benefits, whichever is less. You have nothing to lose by contacting a Tulsa SSDI law firm to discuss your case.

Some attorneys ask people for money upfront to pay some expenses. We don’t. Our fee agreement does say that they would owe us not only the fee but they would be required to reimburse us for expenses. The expenses are usually pretty minor. I tell people in most cases we don’t spend more than $75 to $100 on expenses and essentially what the expenses are is if I ask a doctor or hospital for medical records, they can bill me copying costs so they send me a bill for $25 or $30 to copy a person’s records. I just pay for those. When the case is over I send an invoice. Some law firms ask people for money upfront to cover those, we don’t. There are not any claim filing fees with the Social Security Administration, so there’s really no cost upfront to the people at all. Every once in a while we run into someone who says they needed to go to Legal Aid or someplace where they can find a free lawyer and I wonder why they needed to do that because it really doesn’t cost them anything to hire us. Our fees are contingent, so we don’t get a fee unless they win their case anyway and there’s just no cost upfront.
