OKC SSA Office Will Have Bus Route

Updating a blog post we brought you last fall, bus service to a newly constructed Social Security Administration (SSA) office in Oklahoma City will be made available to the public.

According to NewsOK.com, the office, which is under construction on the northwest corner of NE 122 and Kelley Avenue, near Edmond, is expected to open in the spring. There was controversy as construction began, because many wondered if public transit would be available to the site, as required by law.

However, Edmond’s public bus service said it would begin making seven bus stops to the site daily. Rides on the bus will reportedly be free. The costs associated with the bus line will reportedly be paid through a deal by developers Mark Ruffin and Nick Preftakes and the city of Edmond, which operates Citylink.

This is good news for disabled folks who live in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, as many people who collect Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) have budgets limiting their transportation options.
