Some people with invisible disabilities can function pretty well a lot of the time, but when their symptoms kick in, it can be quite a struggle. This means that they don’t often use visible assistive devices like walkers or canes, which can give the uninformed the impression that these people are normally abled. This can cause people to taunt, deride, and urge people to do more than they are able to. This can hurt people with disabilities and give them the impression of weakness and powerlessness, but such impressions couldn’t be further from the truth.
People with invisible disabilities are just a strong as any other person on the street, and they face big challenges daily just to live their lives the way they want.
