Can You Collect SSDI With Thyroid Cancer?

Throughout September, we have updated our blog to let readers know about the various awareness events concerning cancer that are underway.

With this in mind, September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month, as championed by the Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association. Unfortunately, each year, there are about 62,450 new cases of thyroid cancer diagnosed in America. Of this, an estimated 47,230 cases are diagnosed in women and 15,220 in men.

Tragically, these diagnoses lead to more than 1,900 deaths per year. Interestingly, compared to other forms of cancer, thyroid victims tend to be younger. According to the American Cancer Society, about two out of every three thyroid cancer victims in America are under the age of 55.

The Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association recommends that people talk to a doctor if they have signs of illness including lumps in their neck or lymph node swelling. For more information, you can visit the association’s site by clicking on the source link below.

Talk to Our Tulsa SSDI Attorneys If You Have Thyroid Cancer

If you have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and are going through treatment leaving you unable to work, speak to our Tulsa attorneys about collecting Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits.

Thyroid cancer has a specific disability listing through the Social Security Administration (SSA) for people seeking benefits. To obtain SSDI, you must prove that the cancer has spread, resulting in long-term illness. To do this, you may need to provide the SSA with medical evidence including hospital reports and/or pathology records.

Before applying for benefits, if you have thyroid cancer, contact our Tulsa Social Security disability lawyers for a free evaluation of your case by calling (918) 265-1404. We can determine how to best move forward with your claim, so that it is successful.
