The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) is an association of attorneys and legal advocates who represent people with disabilities. NOSSCR provides a newsletter of current events, a research clearinghouse, and continuing legal education (CLE) programs for its members. With over 4,000 members, the organization has strived to make sure clients seeking Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and/or Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) receive the best representation available, and Troutman & Troutman got to help the group fulfill its charge to assist claimants.
Every year NOSSCR holds two conferences so they can conduct their CLE programs. This allows attorneys to come together and discuss the latest news and trends in the world of SSDI and SSI representation. This year’s first conference was held in Arlington, Virginia, where the group handed out its 19th Annual Eileen P. Sweeney Award, and the first-ever Nancy G. Shor Leadership award, which was given to the award’s namesake. The award has been anticipated ever since the organization’s 1979 inception and shines a bright light on the services the association provides.
Troutman & Troutman’s very own Gayle and Steve Troutman were at this year’s conference in Arlington. In the advanced class for their colleagues, Gayle and Steve broke down the complexities of getting proper payment for court work. They explained the more intricate aspects of court payment, how to file with the government properly, and defined the varying fees involved.
